Stress is a “catch-all” name for a situation which ranges from quite simple to very complex. For example, I treat recently discharged armed forces personnel who could be termed as suffering from stress – sometimes this is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Other times, it’s a combination of things, involving sleeplessness, anxiety, panic attacks, high blood pressure, general restlessness, inability to concentrate, anger, feelings of persecution and many other things.

Once physical causes have been ruled out, it’s my job to help you determine possible other causes and deal with them effectively, so that you can start to return to a much calmer way of living. Sleeplessness, for example, can manifest itself first in general irritability and lack of patience in dealing with other people, either at home or at work. If you don’t do something about it, it can lead on to inability to concentrate, flashes of real anger, a deterioration in your personal or working relationships, a deterioration in your health, and potentially become the start of a decline in your standard of work, with all the attendant dangers that implies.
